Jongno travel guide: palaces and historic streets in Seoul
Explore Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace and Insadong on a relaxed Seoul outing, with subway starting points and Korean addresses for your map app.
Who this trip suits
Choose Jongno for royal palaces, crafts and historic streets. Give one palace enough time rather than rushing through several in a day.
Getting around
Start at Gyeongbokgung, Gwanghwamun or Anguk subway station, depending on your first stop. Allow for walking inside the palace as well as between neighborhoods.
Suggested stops
A flexible order of stops. Transfers, tickets and reservations are not included; choose fewer stops if your travel time is limited.

If it rains
Shorten outdoor walks during heavy rain and look for exhibitions in Insadong or museums around Gwanghwamun. Check each venue's opening days before going.
Before you go
- Changdeokgung's palace grounds and Secret Garden have different admission arrangements. Check garden reservations separately.
- Bukchon is a residential neighborhood. Follow posted visiting hours and permitted areas, and keep noise down.
